MY GRANDMOTHER STRUGGLED WITH CATERING FOR ME, HARRYSONG

Image
That some entertainers now live a flamboyant lifestyle doesn’t necessarily mean they were born with a silver spoon. This is the case with some Nigerian musicians who many envy because they live larger than life lifestyles For popular Nigerian singer, Harrysong, growing up was one hell of an experience and he is not ashamed to tell anybody who cares to listen. Recounting his childhood experiences in a post on Instagram, he shared the sacrifices his grandmother made just to fend for him. “This woman lived for me, sold wrappers to pay my fees, farm, and fish for me to survive; she was just 28 years old when my grandfather passed on. According to my tradition, she was supposed to get married to someone else in the family but she refused and chose to stay with us alone, bond with us, and her love for me is heavenly, she won’t leave the village no matter the gift and money, she’s my grandmother, I call her miloskey, I love her so much”, he said

WHY THERE IS TOO MUCH CRAP MUSIC IN THE MARKET

Image
To say that wishy-washy songs have now flooded the Nigerian music market would not be far from the truth; little wonder Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba is of the same opinion.   In a chat with E-Daily, the singer proved his worth as an afro-pop music legend when it comes to diagnosing challenging issues in the Nigerian music industry. “The crap music all over the place now is because the gate keepers play good songs when people are asleep at night; when there is no one to listen to the music. So if you do that kind of music and you take it to the radio and they refuse to play it, what do you do? And most of the financial back up artistes get is from people who want to make their money back immediately. People are afraid of investing their money on artistes who sing good music. Though the music will still be entertaining but the ear of the people has changed. You and I know that on a normal day it is good music we listen to, except when we go to part...

BUHARI DESERVES REST NOT RE-ELECTION

Image
“We have been sinking into crisis, yet we hear no clear summons from the center of pesident Muhammadu Buhari TED Kennedy said this in November 1979 in describing the administration of fellow Democrat, United States President Jimmy Carter. Kennedy, then U.S. Senator for Massachusetts, made the statement when he officially launched his own bid for president. A charge of incompetence was hanging over Carter’s head like the Sword of Damocles and Democrats who feared they would lose the election if Carter flew the party’s flag, his incumbency notwithstanding, challenged him in the primaries. “Government falters. Fear spreads that our leaders have resigned themselves to retreat,” Kennedy said, almost poetically. Though he lost the primaries to Carter, the obvious happened. The incumbent president lost the election to the Republican challenger, Ronald Reagan. In recent times, I have been ruminating over Kennedy’s admonition to Americans almost 40 years ago. Nigeria, l...
